JK Medical Council goes digital

Srinagar: The newly constituted JK Medical Council has instituted a mechanism to digitalise the processes and procedures for various certifications and registrations, much to the ease of the applicants.

A statement of the council issued here said that the issuance of Fully Digital Certificates in a short span had been made possible in J&K. It said that after taking over the charge of the department, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Vivek Bharadwaj’s first major intervention was an end-to-end complete online process.

   

The statement said that the entire process had been designed taking into account the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), a major reform initiated by the J&K government headed by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

J&K Medical Council was recently notified by the J&K Government on 20 October 2021 and within one week it started it’s full-fledged operations in a complete end-to-end digital process whereby the applicants would be able to submit the application online, make payment online and also get the certificate delivered to them online after due diligence is performed at the J&K Medical Council level.

After the issuance of reconstitution of J&K Medical Council, a number of committees have been constituted in the J&K Medical Council that include Academic Committee headed by Dr Muhammad Iqbal Sofi, Medical Superintendent, GMC Anantnag, Ethics-cum-Grievance Committee headed by Dr Chanderlekha and Disciplinary Committee headed by Dr Rajeshwar Sharma, Medical Superintendent, CD Hospital, Jammu.

The statement said that different certifications including provisional, permanent and additional would be provided online.

Besides this, other documents like No Objection Certificate (NOC), Good Standing Certificates, Duplicate Certificate, Verifications, and CME registration could also be obtained online.

Internal operations of the council like seeking verification, Registrar Approval and President’s approval would also be done on the portal with due process.

The council would work both at Gandhi Nagar in Jammu and Bemina in Srinagar.

The Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council was started in 1941 by the then Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir Hari Singh.

The newly reconstituted council is headed by Director General, Health and Family Welfare, J&K, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman and also includes Medical Superintendent GMC Anantnag Dr Muhammad Iqbal Sofi, Medical Superintendent CD Hospital Jammu Dr Rajeshwar Sharma, and Retired District Health Officer Jammu Dr Chanderlekha.

ACS Bharadwaj appreciated the efforts of the J&K Medical Council to come up with a user-friendly solution within a short notice.
