He’s the captain

Teacher, the word in itself holds a mighty meaning. Teacher is the captain of our educational journey. He plays an instrumental role in every student’s life. Whatever we achieve in our life is because of our teachers. Teacher is a candle which consumes itself to show the way to others. In a nutshell teacher is the builder of nation, that is what I have learned throughout my life. But unfortunately, teacher has lost his grace, charm and reverence. He is no longer considered mighty as it used to be. Every now and then people are seen gossiping about the teachers. Every discussion revolves round a teacher. They have become the target; they are being mocked and ridiculed for not taking their profession seriously. Even it is also said that teachers themselves don’t have enough knowledge to impart to the students. May be, in some cases it can be true. Not all, but there can be few who may not be able to do justice to their job. But who is responsible? Is it the teacher? Certainly not. There have been enough discussions and much has been said about the recklessness and follies of the teachers. Now let us see the other side of the coin. Nobody is perfect in this world. Everyone possesses one or the other loopholes. There are so many problems within the education department and I do not blame teachers alone for the mess but the authorities are equally responsible for this. At the very first place it is the government which distributed schemes (ReT,SSA,RMSA, SBM) like candies without taking into consideration whether the people appointed can live up to the expectations of the people, whether they are capable enough to teach the students. These government authorities did not give it a second thought they just appointed the teachers without any considerations. Now who is to be blamed? Teacher?? who is desperate for the job or the system?? It is a grave issue which needs a pensive pondering. I fail to understand why government is displaying step motherly attitude towards teachers. For more than four months they are deprived of their salaries. Withholding salaries of teachers is not any remedy but instead it results in many other problems which go unheard and unnoticed by the authorities. When teachers are kept aloof from their salary they are unable to deposit the fee of their children because of which their kids are turned out of the schools. They are insulted and humiliated and this humiliation mars their confidence, leaving an indelible imprint on the mental state thereof. When the teachers are not able to feed their families and cater to the needs of their kids what good they will do to the students. It takes courage to witness your family suffering before your eyes. Teachers are undergoing hurting experience not only at the hands of the government but also the society.  Their life has become terribly miserable. It is unfortunate everybody is talking about the incapability of teachers but nobody understands their pain. It is easy to make comments but it actually needs courage to become a teacher. It is the teacher who makes successful people- doctors, engineers and lawyers. Teacher struggles and works hard to teach every student. It is not everybody’s cup of tea to become a teacher. Teaching profession has lost its credibility, not because of the teacher but because of government who appointed them just to suffer. I believe there is no right way to do any wrong thing. Some concrete measures need to be taken by the government for the good of students as well as teachers. Well things are beyond our grasp. Only God can save us. Let good sense prevail…
