The J&K government order for deputation of 63 lecturers to Ladakh UT has drawn flak as the authorities have shifted the lecturers who were already serving in hard zones of Kashmir for more than two years.
The aggrieved lot have opposed the government decision and demanded they should be posted in easily accessible zones citing that they have already served in the hard zones after their appointment in the school education department.
“Our deputation to Ladakh is a punishment for us as we are already rendering our services in hard zones of Kashmir for last more than three years,” an aggrieved lecturer said.
These lecturers posted in the hard zones continue to suffer due to their prolonged stint in the hard zones. They were supposed to be shifted to normal zones after completing one year term in hard zones.
“In the list most of the Lecturers who have been transferred to Ladakh are already serving in hard zones. We are waiting for our transfer from the hard zone to our parent district but this government order is a blow to us,” an aggrieved lecturer said.
He complained that they were sent to 3rd (hard) zone without following any criteria. “Nobody is listening to our grievances. This is our 5th year in the hard zone,” he said.
The aggrieved lecturer said they were posted in 3rd zone in 2017 without any despite having good merit. “But our only fault was that we did not have any contact bureaucracy,” he said.
Notbaly, the lecturers and teachers in the school education department are transferred to hard zones for one or two years after their recruitment in the department or after getting their promotions.
But the aggrieved lecturers complain that they are already serving in hard zones like Tangdhar and other areas for more than three years.
Principal Secretary School Education Department, Bishwajit Kumar Singh said the candidates who were already serving in hard zones in Kashmir Valley can submit their representation to the department.
“We are waiting for such candidates to submit their representation. Once we receive the representations, decisions will be taken accordingly,” Singh said.
