Retired faculty members figure in seniority list of higher education department!

The higher education department has come under criticism for uploading ‘flawed’ seniority list of teaching faculty of the degree colleges in J&K. A group of aggrieved assistant professors said the professors who have retired from services or have left the jobs several years ago, figure in the seniority list. “It speaks volumes about non-seriousness of the department,” a group of assistant professors said. The department had issued a circular on May 20 asking the faculty members to put forth their objections if any regarding the seniority list compiled by the department. “It is not for the first time that we have been asked to make corrections in the list but we have already forwarded our representations regarding the errors,” they said.

The delegations said the faculty members said who have already retired from services or have left their jobs can’t approach the department to make corrections in the list. “The corrections in the seniority list were already made in 2017. That time the department had asked the college principals to get the feedback from faculty members about any corrections to be made in the seniority list. We had submitted our concerns,” they said. In computer science department, more than 90 percent data of employees is wrong, they said. “In past, around 55 assistant professors were appointed under one appointment order but the department has mentioned different dates of appointments in the seniority list for the same lot. It shows how department has made mess of our service records,” they said.
