RTI Movement welcomes order on printed receipts

Srinagar, June 1: Jammu & Kashmir RTI Movement has hailed the Govt’s fresh advisory to the consumers asking them to obtain digital receipts from Government ration stores and fair price shops controlled by Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA) department.

In a statement Chairman RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat said that fresh advisory was much awaited as storekeepers were not using the point of sale machines nor they provided printed receipts to majority of the consumers. He appreciated Commissioner Secretary FCS & CA Zubair Ahmad & Director FCS & CA Kashmir Abdul Salam for the fresh advisory. He urged upon them to ensure people are made aware of this through electronic and print media.

“Majority of people in J&K don’t know what a point of sale machine is as many storekeepers don’t even display it on ration stores and getting printed receipts is like dream for consumers. If all the ration stores start using point of same machines and give printed receipts the privilege and loot of Govt ration can be stopped & the poor consumers won’t have to pay extra money for getting subsidised or free ration. Govt must create mass awareness among people to demand receipts from ration storekeepers,” said Muzaffar.
