Senior officers from all line departments of the summer capital have been instructed to propose ideas and projects that will redress the city’s varied problems.
Officials said the move has been made to bridge shortfallsin making Srinagar vibrant.
The instructions were issued in an all-departments meetingheld here Monday under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar DrShahid Iqbal Choudhary.
The line departments were told that the Governoradministration is keen on addressing the problems and deficiencies of Srinagarand is looking for concrete proposals and efforts in that direction.
The DC while speaking on the occasion said the proposalsmust be based on comprehensive developmental plans which do not just addressSrinagar city’s short-term problems but also put in a place a mechanism thatinstitutionalises its long-term development.
“Srinagar is beset with multiple problems and there isa need that a coordinated and holistic plan is prepared to tackle its concernsand guide its path to development that it deserves,” the DC said. Dr Shahid specified areas of concern thatdepartments will need to keep in mind while formulating their respective plans.”It will be a sort of vision document for addressing problems and largerdevelopment of the Srinagar city,” he said.
