Good Governance Week | Artisans awareness, registration camp held at Srinagar

Srinagar: In connection with the ongoing celebrations of Good Governance Week, the District Administration Srinagar today held awareness cum registration camp for the artisans here. The camp was organised on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Muhammad Aijaz Asad by District Handicrafts Office to sensitize and register the artisans under Handicraft and on e-SHRAM Portal so that they are benefitted from the different welfare schemes of the government.

The camp witnessed a huge response from the artisans during which about 200 artists were registered and provided Artisan Cards.

   

On the occasion, over 100 persons were also registered on e-SHRAM Portal, a National Database of Unorganized Workers (NDUW).

Speaking about the programme, the Deputy Commissioner said that the initiative is a part of a public outreach programme to bring Administration to the doorsteps of people particularly during the ongoing “Good Governance Week”.

He said the purpose of holding such camps is to make people aware about the government sponsored welfare schemes. He said under various components of Handicrafts Cluster Development Scheme infrastructural support, market access, design and technology up-gradation and training to handicrafts artisans is being provided to assist them to set up income generating units with modern infrastructure.

During the camp, Assistant Director Handicraft, Srinagar, Shariq Iqbal, informed the participants about the various activities that the department is conducting for the benefit of the artisan including providing of financial assistance under Credit Card Scheme and facilitation / guidance to make artisans aware about the global e-market trends besides export related activities.
