The local district administration on Tuesday initiated action against 34 officials of different departments, who were found absent from duty during a surprise inspection of 30 government offices conducted in different areas of Rajouri.
On the directions of DDC Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal and under the supervision of ADDC Rajouri, A S Chib, the district administration constituted several teams comprising of officers, including Functional Manager DIC Rajouri, BDO Manjakote, ARTO Rajouri, Deputy Director Employment, District Panchayat Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Tehsildar Rajouri, BDO Rajouri, Chief Medical Officer, Project Manager DIC and AC Development Rajouri and inspected around 30 offices in Manjakote, Thanamandi, Darhal and Dassal Palullian.
During the inspection, several officials were found absent, including a library assistant in Government High School Gambhir Brahmana, a teacher in Government Higher Secondary School Deri Ralyote, 4 officials in BDO office Darhal, 2 in Boys Higher Secondary School Darhal, 2 in Girls Higher Secondary School Darhal, 2 in ZEO Office Darhal, Headmaster and 4 teachers in Middle School Reki Baan, 9 officials in Government Middle School Keriyan, a teacher in High School Ziyarit Sharif, a teacher in Middle School Namblan, a doctor and 2 FMPHWs in PHC Ziyarit Sharif Palullian and 1 official in DFCO Office in Pathan Morha Rajouri.
Meanwhile, during the visit to Office of Executive Officer and other sections of Municipal Committee Rajouri, only 2 officials were found present. The EO Municipality was also among the absentees and no movement register was available in the office, while biometric attendance sheet could not be found as well.
Zonal Education Sports Office Thannamandi was found locked at the time of inspection, 10:30 am.
Sources said that the administration has initiated action against all the absent officials.
Besides the absentees, a number of officials were also shown on field duties and deputations in the office registers. These include 4 from Tehsil Office Darhal, 3 from Boys Higher Secondary School Darhal, 3 from Girls Higher Secondary School Darhal, 4 from High School Ziyarit Sharif and 3 from Middle School Namblan. The administration has started the process to verify the field duties and deputations of all these officials.
