The advocates from Surankote sub-division of Poonch and Thannamandi of Rajouri on Monday boycotted their daily work and joined the protest in support of Article 35-A.
In Surankote, all the advocates, under the banner of Bar Association Surankote, boycotted their work and staged a sit-in protest, while extending support to the shutdown call. They termed fiddling with state’s special status as a sensitive issue, which will lead to serious problems in the state.
In Thanamandi, Bar Association, under the chairmanship of General Secretary Sajid Qayoom Shawl and Advocate Zahoor Bhatti, suspended their work and sat on a protest at Thannamandi court complex. They also extended their support to the bandh and protest call of Beopar Mandal Thannamandi and other organizations.
The protesters asked the central government to refrain from tinkering with the Article and said that any attempt at abrogating the Article will cause serious law and order problems in the state.
