Bombs break two-day LoC calm

Guns again roared along the Line of Control on Wednesday after two days of calm as Indian and Pakistani soldiers exchanged heavy fire in Poonch and Nowshera sectors of the heavily militarised boundary.

Bombs landed in forward locations like Gulpur around 10 amand two shells fired from across the LoC exploded near the trade facilitationcentre of Chakan da Bagh in Poonch.

   

The cross-border exchange of fire continued into late afternoonhours but no loss of life or major damage was reported from the area.

A senior police official said two mortar shells landed nearthe trade facilitation centre soon after goods trucks from the other sidearrived.

Ramesh Angral, senior superintendent of police for Poonch said, “The people there have been shifted to the underground bunker.”
