Crow deaths trigger panic, worry bird lovers in Rajouri

Death of a number of crows in Panj Peer area of Rajouri town have triggered panic among locals amid Bird Flu scare going on in four states of the country.

The birds reportedly died in the last four to five days—leaving bird watchers and lovers worried.

   

Locals living near Army Camp in Panj Peer locality of Rajouri town who include Vishal Sharma said that trees in the area and inside army camp are house to a number of birds especially crows and in last four to five days, dozens of crows have been found lying dead on ground.

“We found a crow lying dead on our roof also with two near our house and other people of the area have also complained of this.” said locals.

They termed it as a cause of concern amid ongoing scare of spread of Bird Flu in the country.

Experts of the government department tasked to collect the samples said that necessary protocol was followed and samples have been collected.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Muhammad Nazir Sheikh on the other hand said that teams of poultry wing of Animal Husbandry department were asked to do the necessary action to probe the cause of death of birds after which experts went to the spot and collected samples for Bird Flu virus from the bodies of dead birds besides other examination.

“Besides samples, the body of one of the birds has also been collected and has been sent to the laboratory for further examination.” said the Deputy Commissioner.
