The residents of Mendhar and Mankote Tuesday urged upon theauthorities to expedite work on the construction of bunkers in the areas alongthe Line of Control (LoC).
In a press statement, sarpanch of Chajjla panchayat,Amanullah Chowdhary, and sarpanch of Dabraj panchayat, Ashraf Chowdhary, saidthat the situation in their areas is going from bad to worse with each passingday. “Every day is like a nightmare. Death seems to be knocking on ourdoors,” they said.
Alleging grave lacunas in the initiative of government forconstruction of bunkers, the two newly-elected sarpanches said, “Constructionof bunkers is going on at snail’s pace. There is an urgent need to pace up thework as people from the area are in dire need of bunkers amid intense borderskirmishes.”
