Firing in Rajouri’s Kalal hamlet along LoC: DC

A number of villages along Line of Control in Kalal including Deeing, Kalal witnessed healthy turnover on Wednesday under seventh phase voting of DDC polls.

In Deeing A, B and Kalali polling stations located on Line of Control, 74.0%, 73.1% and 77.2% voters turnover has been registered with all these three polling stations are located on Line of Control in Deeing panchayat area of Kalal sector.

   

“Almost every day, Pak army violates ceasefire in our area and resorts to firing and shelling but people in large numbers voted on Wednesday.” Sarpanch Deeing, Romesh Chowdhary said.

He added that the majority of the area in his panchayat is located on Line of Control and in a shelling zone despite which people voted in large numbers without any fear and braving the risk.

“The most vulnerable polling station is in Government High School Kalal which falls in front of Kabbotar Gala area of LoC where heavy mortar shelling takes place almost every day.” Sarpanch said.

Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Muhammad, Nazir Sheikh said that voting took place in peaceful atmosphere at all the polling stations of LOC area in Kalal.

“Keeping aside the fear, people reached polling stations in Kalal LoC area and voted for DDC polls.” DC said.
