IAS officer Aijaz Asad’s maiden poetry book BarfZaar has been selected by the Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad for the prestigious literature award – Bhasha Parishad Yuva Puruskar – for the year 2019. The book, published in 2018, has foreword by bollywood lyricist and director Gulzar.
The poet hails from Mendhar, Poonch, and is an IAS officer of 2012 batch. Currently posted as deputy commissioner Rajouri, Aijaz is a B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi.
Renowned poet, author and critic Shams Ur Rehman Farooqi has written that Aijaz Asad has been successful in capturing the human feelings of elation and despair as well as portraying the issues plaguing the society. He adds that Aijaz Asad is among few young poets who creatively attempt to experiment in their writing giving it a fresh energy.
