‘Ill-planned’ road widening at Sathra irks commuters

The ongoing road widening work at Sathra Tamra area in Mandi irks commuters, who are “suffering” due to long traffic jams.

The locals said, “Traffic jams due to road widening workhave become the new norm. On Monday itself, we remained stuck in a jam for oversix hours. It is severely affecting normal life.”

   

Mushtaq Ahmed and Wali Mohammad among other locals said,”The road from Mandi to Poonch is the lone lifeline in terms of roadconnectivity for the local populace. The road widening project is a welcomestep, but ill-planned work is putting us through suffering.”

Students, government employees and patients are the worstsufferers of the traffic snarls, they said.

The locals appealed to the concerned authorities anddistrict administration to put a proper policy in place and minimize thehardships faced by the general public.
