The Joint Action Committee (JAC) Manjakote continued its strike in favour of its demand for the establishment of Degree College in Manjakote, on Thursday.
The JAC accused the state government of depriving the people of Manjakote of their basic rights. The body said that it will continue its dharna until its demand is met in letter and spirit.
A statement issued by the body said that the state government is ignoring the basic rights of the people of the area.
“Our children especially female students are suffering badly as they travel miles to reach their college in the towns. In case the authorities will not sanction the college, our students will also join the strike,” the statement issued by JAC reads.
Besides establishment of college, the JAC is also demanding a sub-division magistrate office and munsif court for the Manjakote village.
