Man arrested, ‘kidnapped girl’ rescued: Police

Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a man, accused of kidnapping a girl from Thannamandi, from Uttrakhand state.

The police also claimed to have rescued the allegedly kidnapped minor.

   

A police officer said, “A complaint was lodged in Thannamandi police station, wherein a man stated that Reyaz Ahmed had kidnapped his daughter. An FIR was registered and investigations were started.”

During investigations in the past few months, police raided several places at Srinagar, Jammu and Reasi, among others to trace the girl, but the efforts failed to bring out a positive result, he said, adding that however, three days ago an information was received that the girl and the accused were seen in Chamba town of Uttarakhand.

“A special team was constituted and sent to trace the girl. The team managed to find the girl as well as arrest the accused from Chamba town,” he said, adding that the duo was brought to Rajouri district and the girl has been admitted in district hospital, Rajouri.
