Man held for wife’s murder, injuring daughter

Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a man on charges of murdering wife and injuring daughter at Kharak village here whereas three other persons have been taken into custody for questioning.

In his official statement, Senior Superintendent of Police,Yougal Manhas said that on Monday afternoon, an information was received atpolice station Kalakote that a woman Neelam Devi and her daughter Anita Devihave received critical injuries inside their house and had been taken toSunderbani sub district hospital where Devi succumbed while daughter Anita wasreferred to GMCH Jammu in a critical condition.

   

Police team from Kalakote police station headed by SHO TahirKhan started investigation into the matter. The preliminary enquiry hasconcluded that the husband of the woman had allegedly beaten her and thedaughter.

“Later, raids were carried out and the alleged accusedKartar Chand was arrested from a forest area of the village while weapon ofoffence, an iron pipe has been seized,” SSP said.

A case under relevant sections of law including charges ofmurder have been registered at Kalakote police station, he added. The SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas added that threeother relatives of the man have been taken into custody for questioning intothe matter.
