In another example of poor state of affairs in Public Health Engineering Department, students of a school located close to the Line of Control in Balakote area of Poonch district staged protest against authorities on Tuesday as there is no drinking water in their school.
“There is no water supply connection in our school and we used to fetch water from a small hole in village water supply pipeline. The same pipeline has now been shifted and there is not even a single drop of water in our school,” said the protesting students.
The students said that they have no water even for washing their plates after mid-day meals.
Sub-divisional magistrate Mendhar, Dr. Tabveer Khan, deputed a team headed by Naib Tehsildar Balakote to visit the school and to pacify the students. The students were assured that their problem would be resolved soon.
