Power Woes | Ramban witnesses ‘unscheduled’ power cuts

Ramban: Some areas of the Ramban district are witnessing “unscheduled” power cuts for the past few days.

Locals said that while these areas were witnessing “unscheduled” power cuts, the authorities were not taking any action to restore the regular supply of electricity.

A school teacher said that in absence of proper electric supply, students were suffering from the ongoing examinations.

He said that the frequent power cuts jeopardise the preparations of students while the consumers also suffer on various counts.

Locals said that power cuts occur at the time of morning and evening prayers, creating hardships for the people, particularly the elderly.

The people of hilly areas are aghast over unscheduled power cuts and are complaining against the Power Development Department (PDD) in the Ramban district.

A PDD engineer said some areas of Ramban were witnessing power cuts due to replacing of electric conductors in Ramban town and the laying of new power infrastructure.

“The power supply is cut so that the lives of PDD staffers and workers are not under any threat,” he said.
