RAMBAN-BANIHAL SECTION OF NATIONAL HIGHWAY | Additional 2-lane Kelamorh bridge temporarily opened

Ramban, Jan 23: The work on an additional two-lane bridge on Kelamorh nullah on the Ramban-Banihal section of the four-lane project on NH-44 was completed and it (bridge) was temporarily opened for traffic on Tuesday afternoon.

Engineers of the construction company, CVPPL, engaged by NHAI, said, “The work on Kelamorh bridge was completed and the bridge was temporarily opened for traffic today. Besides, the work on the additional two 2-lane roads, leading to the bridge, was also completed.”

   

They said that the work on crash barriers, drains, and parapets was underway and efforts were being made to complete the remaining work at the earliest possible.

“The work on this additional 75-meter-long vital two-lane bridge at Kelamorh on the Ramban-Banihal section of the four-lane project was started a year back,” they informed.

“The final stage of work on an additional two–lane road from Ramban flyover to the Kelamorh stretch is in progress and is nearing completion,” they said.

According to them, the work on the additional two lanes of the four-lane bridge over Chamba, Seri Nullah was also completed and it would also be opened for traffic soon.

The excavation work for converting the 2-lane existing highway into the four-lane from Ramban-Trusul Morh to Kelamorh stretch has almost been completed. “The work on erecting crash barriers, drainage, anchoring of hills besides other allied works, is in progress,” the officials said.

Earlier, a two-lane tunnel T1 and a bridge at Kelamorh were constructed and opened for two-way traffic in January, 2023.

The officials said that the road expansion work on the old alignment road, leading to Kelamorh from Seri and the work on the additional two-lane Kelamorh bridge was started on a fast-track basis in January 2023.
