RDD transfers, posts 74 VLWs, MPWs in Rajouri

In a major shuffle of Village Level Workers (VLW) and Multipurpose Workers (MPW), Rural Development department on Saturday issued an order, wherein 74 such officials were transferred. Among the transferred workers, some had been serving at the same place for several decades.

A senior officer of RDD Rajouri informed Greater Kashmir that on the directions of local district administration, the office of Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) ordered the major reshuffle. “Some of the workers had been serving at the same place for over 21,” he said.

“The transfer order was put into effect in view of numerous representations made by public from different parts of the district to the District Development Commissioner regarding over stay of these officials at the same place of posting, which is in contravention of the transfer policy of the government,” the officer said, adding that the public demanded immediate transfers of officials with overstay period as it leads to nepotism.

It was also mentioned in representations that these transfers are inevitable for free and fair conduct of Panchayat elections as well.

“In order to ensure smooth functioning of department, on the directions of DDC Mohammad Aijaz Asad, Assistant Commissioner Development Akhtar Hussain Qazi, after thorough analysis and scrutinisation of public representations, ordered transfer of 74 VLWs and MPWs. 10 officials from block Manjakote, 9 from Rajouri, 3 each from Qila Darhal, Dhangri and Nowshera, 2 each from Seri, Doongi, Thannamandi, Kalakote and Lamberi, 10 from Darhal, 5 from Koteranka, 4 each from Panjgrain, Siot and Sunderbani, 7 from Plangarh and 1 each from Khawas and Mougla,” the officer said.
