The residents of Thannamandi area in Rajouri district on Tuesday staged a demonstration against power development department and public health engineering department over erratic power supply and water scarcity in the area.
Led by former member legislative assembly, Rajouri, Chowdhary Qamar Hussain, a large number of people assembled at main chowk of Thannamandi and blocked the Thanamandi-Shahdra Sharif road for over an hour. They raised slogans against the power development and public health engineering departments.
They alleged, “Most of the areas in Thannamandi are facing severe shortage of water as the concerned department has failed to ensure adequate water supply. Besides, severe power crisis and unscheduled power curtailment has made lives really hard.”
The protesters urged the district administration to intervene and redress their issues.
