Srinagar: The School Education Department Tuesday announced winter vacation for the government and recognised private schools up to class 12th in winter and summer zones of the Jammu division.
The order in this regard has been issued by the Principal Secretary School Education Department, Bishwajit Kumar Singh.
As per the order, the schools up to class 12th in the winter zones of Jammu would observe winter vacations from December 13 to February 28 while the schools in summer zones of Jammu would observe winter vacations from December 24 to January 2.
The government has asked the schools teachers to hold weekly online interactions with the students during the winter vacations announced for the government and recognised private schools.
“There will be online interaction of teaching faculty with students through WhatsApp group or Google Meet at least once a week,” the order reads.
The government has also asked the teachers to remain available for any query or doubt of any student on phone or WhatsApp.
“The teachers will ensure completion of all ongoing exams of regular academic session 2020-21 for different classes,” the order said.
However, the government has warned the school heads of strict action for any violation in following the calendar of winter vacations.
“Any default on part of Heads of the Institutions (HoIs) in observance of the calendar will attract strict action under the rules,” the order said.
Earlier, the department announced winter vacation for schools in Kashmir up to class 8th from December 6 to February 26 while classes from 9th to 12th would observe winter vacations from December 13 to February 26.
