Covid-19 pandemic: 110 arrested for defying prohibitory orders in three kashmir districts

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said that they havearrested 110 persons in three districts of the valley for defying prohibitoryorders issued by the government in view of Covid-19 pandemic.

“Acting tough against the violators of Governmentprohibitory orders, Police  in Srinagar,Bandipora and Handwara have arrested 110 persons and seized 08 vehicles fordefying the restriction orders imposed by the government in view of Covid-19,”said a police spokesman, in a statement.

   

In Srinagar, he said, the police have arrested 26 personsincluding 7 shopkeepers in the jurisdictions of Police Station Shaheed Gunj,Nowgam, Khanyar and Parimpora  fordefying the restriction orders imposed by the government in view of Covid-19and also seized 02 vehicles.

In Bandipora, Police have arrested 50 persons and seized 06vehicles for breaching the prohibitory orders of District Magistrate Bandiporaacross the district. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registeredand investigations in the cases have been initiated, he said.

In Handwara, Police Station Qalamabad have arrested 10persons for violating prohibitory orders imposed u/s144 CrPC. “While PoliceStation Kralgund have arrested 19 persons for violating the prohibitory ordersover Coronavirus. Similarly, Police Station Handwara have arrested 05 personsfor violating prohibitory orders imposed by District Magistrate u/s 144CrPC.  Cases under relevant sections oflaw have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigations inthe cases have been initiated.”
