While maintaining that Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has “apparently stressed the obvious that Kashmiris can’t fight the armed forces”, former union minister Prof Saifuddin Soz on Saturday said the “tenor and method” of Rawat’s communication however “does not and cannot get him success on the ground.”
He in a statement issued here today said the Army Chief should “perhaps” refresh his knowledge on situations of the conflicts in the world and the military history of India.
“It is long back that I had reminded him to study minutely the Field Marshall Cariappa’s approach to military operations in situations of conflict,” he said.
He said if the Army Chief “ever thinks of helping the political bosses to resolve the crisis on the ground in Kashmir, both his narrative and approach in this regard shall have to undergo a change.”
He said the Army Chief should reach the minds of young men wielding the gun. “Whether azadi is possible or not, it is a proposition already before the people of Kashmir and they alone will decide their future.”
