Create durable, futuristic infra in Jammu: Advisor Sharma to JDA

 Advisor to Governor, KK Sharma, on Tuesday emphasised on creating durable, modern and need-based infrastructure to cater to the futuristic needs of Jammu city.

The advisor was speaking at a meeting he convened to discuss the projects being undertaken by the Jammu Development Authority here on Tuesday.

   

Vice-chairman JDA, Vikas Sharma and other senior officers of the organization were present.

The advisor asked the JDA to create modern infrastructure to cater to the city’s future needs. He called for visionary planning for catering to the population growth and increasing settlement in urban areas and directed for developing proper parking lots for the convenience of the people besides also coming up with a holistic policy by virtue of which the housing needs of the burgeoning population can be addressed.

While reviewing the functioning of JDA, the advisor emphasised on creating modern infrastructure in the JDA owned colonies besides undertaking new projects as per the futuristic needs of the people of Jammu.

He asked the vice-chairman JDA to suggest means and implement them to make their organisation self-reliant

The advisor while reviewing the progress on projects, said that regular meetings should be held in order to remove bottlenecks, if any, to speed up the pace of work so that people can see development taking place at ground level.

While reviewing the development of Tawi River Front Project, the advisor asked the officers to ensure its speedy completion as it is one of the most important beautification projects of the city besides ensuring that the river embankments are properly strengthened. He said that a feasibility report and a detailed project report have been formulated for the project and officers should work in close coordination with the concerned for ensuring its timely completion.

Sharma also reviewed the modernisation, development of general bus-stand, multi-level car parking-cum-shopping complex coming up at the facility and directed the officers to ensure its time-bound completion. He said the shopkeepers, who are getting displaced on account of the project, should be adequately rehabilitated.

The meeting also discussed various other issues like construction of flatted accommodation at Muthi, development of housing colony at Pargalta, (Bajalta), PPP mode, construction of 1008 EWS houses, flats at Muthi, Udheywala, Nagrota and Majeen under Pradhan MantriAwas Mission Yojana, development of Jammu city along with river downstream of 4th Tawi bridge up to BhagatpurKukriyan, preparation of zonal plans of Jammu area.

Earlier, the advisor also visited the industrial estate at Bari Brahmana and inspected various industrial units.
