Upgrade infrastructure, create CFCs at industrial estates: Advisor Skandan to SICOP

To create ecosystems for manufacture of competitive goods and services, Advisor to Governor K Skandan Wednesday urged J&K SICOP to upgrade its existing infrastructure and establish Common Facility Centres (CFCs) at industrial estates.

According to an official spokesperson, the Advisor statedthis while speaking at the 89th Board of Directors (BoD) meet of Small ScaleIndustries Development Corporation (SICOP) here.

   

The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner, FinanceDepartment, Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary, Industries & CommerceDepartment, Navin K. Choudhary, Managing Director, SICOP, Atul Sharma,directors and representatives from various chambers of the state.

The Advisor said that upgradation of micro, small and mediumenterprises (MSMEs) is need of the hour to cope with the growing developmentsof industrial sector, adding the SICOP should come with a support system forclusters at its industrial estates. He said SICOP would be a nodal agency toprovide facilities to the small-scale industries so that they will prosper intheir businesses.

The meeting was informed that at present SICOP is managing58 Industrial Estates including 43 Industrial Estates previously managed byDICs and transferred to SICOP in 2017.

It was also said that during the fiscal year 2018-19, 6111tests were conducted while as during the FY 2019-20 (1st quarter), 970 testswere conducted at its three testing centres in three divisions of the State.

The meeting was further informed that SICOP management hasformulated DPR through J&K Industrial and Technical ConsultancyOrganisation (J&K ITCO) for upgradation and acquiring the NationalAccreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories.
