LOK SABHA POLLS|Top security brass visits Kishtwar

Top security brass visited Kishtwar on Tuesday and reviewed the security scenario and poll preparedness in the district ahead of the parliamentary elections, scheduled to be held on April 18.

The director general of police, Dilbag Singh, accompanied byinspector general of police, Jammu, M K Sinha, IG CRPF, Jammu, Abhay VirChouhan, and IG BSF, Jammu, N S Jamwal, held meetings with the officers ofpolice department, army and CAPF during the visit.

   

The officers visited far-flung areas of the district,including Marwah and Dachan. Later, they reached Kishtwar town, wherein theyheld meeting with officers of security forces.

Addressing the officers at District Police Office Complex,Kishtwar, the DGP impressed upon them to dispose of pending cases on fast trackbasis and keep crime index in check. He also asked them to enhance publicrelations.

“The district had been militancy infested, but thesacrifices of policemen and other security forces brought about a change. Whatremains of militancy shall also be wiped out from the district soon,” the DGPsaid.

DGP Singh also stressed upon the establishment of new SOGcamps, checkpoints and bunkers in the district and advised all the security forcesto work in a coordinated manner. “The noose must be tightened against militantsand their over ground workers,” he said.

Further, he stated that due to safe and secure environmentof the region, projects are being executed and development is taking place.”The credit goes to police, army, BSF and CRPF, who have worked as a team andaccomplished the mission of establishing peace,” he said, while paying tributesto the slain police officers and soldiers.

During his interaction with the officers of civil administration,police and CAPF, the DGP directed them to act tough against the “white collarcriminals” by identifying them and booking them under relevant laws.

Referring to welfare measures, he said that the policeheadquarter is looking into various demands and more announcements are expectedfrom state Government for the benefit of police personnel. The DGP also assuredthat all the grievances brought into his notice will be addressed. He said thatall the personnel, especially those in lower ranks, will be made comfortable.

He directed the officers to perform their duties with zestand zeal during the upcoming parliamentary elections and ensure that nountoward incident takes place.

Earlier, senior superintendent of police, Kishtwar, ShaktiPathak briefed the meeting about the functioning of the police in the district.

Bhim Sen Tuti, DIG DKR range, Angrez Singh Rana, deputycommissioner, Kishtwar, additional SP Kishtwar and other officers of army andCAPF were also present on the occasion.
