The local District Development Commissioner Simrandeep Singh on Tuesday suspended Tehsildars of Kahara and Chilli Pingal for showing dereliction of duty.
“The suspension of the two Tehsildars was ordered in wake of non-compliance in furnishing the information regarding encroachment of state/kacharai/common/forest land and water bodies. The DDC had asked all Tehsildars to file the report before July 30, for onward submission, but the said officers failed to comply,” a spokesperson of the district administration said.
As per the spokesperson, the erring officers also failed to turn up at the revenue meeting convened by the DDC on Tuesday and neither did they submit the information through an authorized representative.
Taking serious note of careless attitude on their part, the DDC suspended the officers with immediate effect and also ordered an enquiry into the matter. He directed SDM Gandoh and SDM Thathri to take over the charge of Chilli Pingal and Kahara respectively, while attaching the suspended officers in his office till further orders.
