Srinagar, Feb 12: The weatherman has predicted another wet spell from February 18.
Meanwhile, despite an increase in day-time temperature, the minimum temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir continue to remain cold with Srinagar recording a low of minus 3.6 degrees Celsius on Monday.
The Meteorological Department (MeT) has forecast mainly dry weather till February 17.
However, another wet spell is likely from February 18 to February 20, with the possibility of light to moderate snow and rain in many places across J&K.
After a prolonged dry and warm winter, Kashmir witnessed widespread snowfall and rain last week.
Kashmir is passing through the second and moderate phase of the 20-day winter period Chillai Khurd after the harshest 40-day period ended on January 29.
The MeT officials here said that the temperature in Srinagar rose by over 2 degrees Celsius from the previous night’s low of minus 4.7 degrees Celsius. However, it was below normal by 3.8 degrees Celsius for this time of the year.
Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius, showing an increase from the previous night’s low of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius. It was 2.2 degrees Celsius below normal.
Pahalgam resort in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 7 degrees Celsius, down from the previous night’s minus 7.9 degrees Celsius and 2 degrees Celsius below normal.
Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, saw the mercury drop to minus 2.5 degrees Celsius from the previous night’s minus 3.2 degrees Celsius, remaining 1 degree Celsius below normal.
In north Kashmir, Kupwara town recorded a low of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius, slightly below the previous night’s minus 4.3 degrees Celsius, with temperatures 3.2 degrees Celsius below normal.
Gulmarg skiing resort in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.5 degrees Celsius, an improvement from the previous night’s minus 6.5 degrees Celsius, with temperatures now above normal by 1 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, Jammu experienced a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius, remaining 2.1 degrees Celsius below normal. Banihal recorded a low of 3.8 degrees Celsius, Batote 4.9 degrees Celsius, and Bhaderwah minus 0.8 degrees Celsius.
