CANCELLATION OF LEAVES AHEAD OF LS POLLS | Govt employees aspiring for JKAS-2024 Mains in dilemma

Srinagar, Mar 21:  The in-service employees in various government departments aspiring for Mains of Combined Competitive Examination (JKAS-2024) have been left in a dilemma as the J&K administration has cancelled the leaves of all the employees ahead of the Lok Sabha Polls.

The J&K Public Service Commission (PSC) has scheduled the Mains of JKAS-2024 on March 26, 27, 28, 29 and April 2 and 3, 2024.

One of the aspirants said that over 2000 candidates including 300 to 500 in-service employees of the J&K government would be appearing in the exams.

But the in-service employees aspiring to appear in the exam said that the respective district election authorities had cancelled leave of all government employees ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in J&K which had made it impossible for them to appear in the Mains on the scheduled dates.

“The administration should provide us some relaxation so that we do not miss our exams of JKAS Mains 2024,” an aspirant said.

The aspirants said keeping in view the importance of the exams, the Heads of the Departments or Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) should grant them leave on the scheduled dates.

“Or the administration should ask JKPSC to reschedule the Mains exams of JKAS-2024,” another aspirant said.

The aspirants said that they understand the integrity of the democratic exercise but the cancellation of leaves had inadvertently put the aspiring candidates in a quandary, jeopardising their chances of appearing in the highly anticipated Mains examination.

“We urge the authorities to address this urgent issue on priority so that we do not miss the opportunity of writing our Mains exams,” they said.

The aspirants have urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo for their intervention into the matter.

“We hope the administration will consider our aspiration and chalk out some mechanism which will enable us to appear in the exam,” the aspirants said.
