CONTEMPT CASE: HC directs VC KU to join proceedings through video conferencing, 2 officers to remain present

Srinagar, Feb 13:  The High Court of J&K and Ladakh Wednesday asked the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Kashmir (KU) to join from Jammu the proceedings of a contempt case through video conferencing and the other two officers were directed to remain present before the court.

“Though we had directed the presence of all the contemnors which includes the VC KU, this court has been informed that the VC KU is out of the station and is presently at Jammu as of date and, will not be available to appear before this court physically on Thursday, March 14, 2024,” a division bench of Justice Atul Sreedharan and Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi said.

   

“Under the circumstances, Contemnor No 1 (VC KU) shall join the proceedings on March 14, 2024, at 11 am through video conferencing, Contemnor No 2 and 3(two officers) shall remain present in person they shall have no excuses and no application seeking dispensation from with their appearance shall be undertaken,” the court said.

“The relevant record to this case shall also be produced before this Court for its perusal,” the court said and ordered the listing of the case for today at the top of the list.
