A two-day workshop on conservation of environment through education for the officers of school education department concluded on Thursday at forest information centre, Jammu.
The workshop was organised by WWF-India in collaboration with department of school education, J&K in which “EkPrithvi – Jammu and Kashmir projects” was also launched the previous day.
Speaking on the occasion, director school education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta expressed her satisfaction on the way herbal garden scheme is operational in J&K State. She impressed upon the functionaries to work with more vigour and zeal so that this becomes a doable model for other schools. She also made a mention of innovative schemes being launched by the Department of education.
Applauding the “EkPrithviProgramme” and its efforts, she said that it will run in more than 60 schools of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions, and will empower more than 30,000 students in various herbal garden and conservation projects.
She also mentioned that the school education department is working in 644 school herbal gardens across the state with financial assistance from National Medicinal Plants Board, New Delhi and SamagraShiksha (MHRD) which has the highest number of herbal gardens in any State in India.
