In the run-up to Loksabha elections, ‘apolitical’ pressure groups to raise the voice of Dogra people witness surge in Jammu.
One such group namely Dogra Swabhiman Sanghathan (DSS) was on Sunday launched by former minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Basholi Assembly Constituency, Choudhary Lal Singh.
After launching DSS, Singh claimed that his ‘apolitical’ organisation was tactically floated on July 22 on the completion of 100-day struggle seeking CBI probe in Kathua rape and murder case.
He was addressing at a well attended function amid slogans ‘Jai Duggar-Jai Dogra’ here at Teachers Bhawan on Sunday afternoon.
Singh also launched new flag of the organisation on the pattern of Tri-colour showing ‘lion and goat’ drinking water from the same pond symbolising harmony and peace in the Jammu region.
The flag was designed by eminent artist KK Sharma.
Elaborating further the BJP MLA said, “The tricolor with lion-goat logo used as symbol of peace and tranquility in Jammu, which remain guiding pillar for Raja Jambu Lochan, who had founded Jammu during hunting, when he saw goat and a lion drinking water at the same place.”
The former minister said that he would fight for the rights and pride of the community.
“Jammu and its people (Dogras) have always been neglected since decades by Kashmir centric politicians and governments but time have changed now. The Dogras of Jammu will no more face discrimination anymore,” said Singh.
Members of the civil society from different sections including women and youth attended the mega event.
“We will struggle and struggle for our rights. Jammu has united to fight for it,” said the BJP MLA.
Meanwhile, Singh also released a vision document on the occasion. A documentary on ‘100 days of Rasana case’ (Kathua rape and murder) was also screened at the launch of ‘Sanghthan’.
Earlier on July 15, Advocate Ankur Sharma, the defense lawyer for main accused in Kathua rape and murder case launched similar group, “IkkJutt Jammu” claiming to fight for the rights of people of Jammu province.
