Army hold outreach programme, Chilai-Kalan Mela

The Fire & Fury Corps in collaboration with the Zonal Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) undertook a medical outreach programme at Phey and Umla villages in Leh, an army spokesman said.

He said the medical examination of veterans (ex-servicemen), veer naris and locals of the villages was carried out and medicines were distributed at their doorstep by a mobile dispensary based on a vehicle. The camp was aligned towards commemorating the year 2019, as the ‘Year of the Next of Kin’.

   

The medical outreach facilitated by the Fire and Fury Corps under the guidance of Ina Joshi, Zonal president AWWA, was well received by the villagers. Similar activity is also being planned for other remote villages in near future, the spokesman added. 

ARMY CONDUCTS CHILAI-KALAN MELA 

An army spokesman said that The ongoing winter spell in Kashmir has resulted in various hardships to the locals and therefore, to provide different facilities to the people of Lidder Valley through a centralised platform, the Army organised the Chilai-Kalan-Mela and medical camp at Yanner Park. 

“The highlights of the mela included various recreational and informative outlets in addition to several games, stalls, eating joints, info cum registration desk of SBI and J&K Bank. Apart from these facilities, medical services were also rendered to the locals by means of a medical Camp, wherein a team of Army doctors administered the patients and also provided free medication to over 300 people who turned up at this event,” the spokesman added,
