A police officer from Anantnag town on Thursday took to social networking website Facebook to condemn the police ‘highhandedness’ in his native area.
The house of DSP human rights Nisar Ahmad Bakshi at Naibasti locality of KP road along with several others was ransacked by government forces on Wednesday evening following clashes in the area.
Alleging that that it was the eight such instance since 2008 the officer even posted the photos of broken windows and damaged vehicles on his Facebook wall on Thursday morning calling it sheer vandalism.
“Vandalism by security forces at K P Road Anantnag. Property worth lacs including windows and windowpanes of my residential house damaged. Houses/Vehicles and shops smashed and attacked by rods and rocks. This is for the 8th time since 2008 that my residential house has been damaged in such a way,” Bakshi wrote.
“This is not the first time that forces damaged our property, they have been doing it regularly. Yesterday my father even pleaded at these policemen that this house belonged to a DSP, But it did not stop them from vandalizing our property”, said said Nisar Bakshi
He also posted photographs on his Facebook wall which show windows of his house damaged , windscreens of cars smashed and also of broken scooter and a bike.
The face book posted evoked lot of response from the nitizens with many sharing it the post and also expressing solidarity with the DSP.
“When the houses of police officers are ransacked in such a manner. Imagine the fate of ordinary people,” some of his face book friends wrote.
His brother, Dr Iftkhar Bakshi a surgeon, also commented on the post and wrote:
“Beasts in uniform, as if they enjoy damaging public property. This is sheer hooliganism. No accountability at all. At least someone from the district administration should take cognizance of such incidents. Mohalla committees should apprise the concerned SHO and other district admins so that there will be no such loss to the civilian property in future.”
