A policeman was injured when militants lobbed a grenade at police station Baramulla Monday evening, said a police official.
The incident occurred at around 7 pm. Following grenade attack, police fired in air resulting in panic in the entire town.
The injured policeman identified as constableRafiq Ahmad was immediately rushed to Baramulla district hospital where his condition was stated to be stable. “After the attack, searches have been launched in the area to nab the attackers,” a police officer said.
MILITANTS ATTACK POLICE POST IN PULWAMA:
Militants fired upon a police post at SIDCO industrial complex Lassipora in Pulwama district at about 4 pm Monday. The police retaliated but the militants escaped from the area. The firing caused no damage.
Soon forces personnel from a nearby army camp, CRPF camp and SOG cordoned off the SIDCO area and launched searches.
However no one was arrested.
The firing created panic in the industrial area. The forces also laid nakas at several places.
“Militants fired upon police post SIDCO Lassipora and escaped. The firing caused no damage,” a top police officer of the district said.
CIVILIAN INJURED IN A PAMPORE GRENADE ATTACK:
A civilian was wounded in a grenade attack in Pampore township of Pulwama district on Monday.
Police said that militants lobbed a grenade towards an army vehicle deployed on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway near KhrewChowk in Drangbal at around 3 pm.
The civilian received splinters in his foot and was immediately shifted to hospital for treatment.
Soon after the explosion, police, army and CRPF rushed to the area and conducted searches to nab the attackers.
Following the attack, forces beefed up security in Tral and Awantipora areas by deploying extra security personnel.
In the evening, forces conducted searches of vehicles in sensitive locations of Tral and Awantipora.
