With 71 distinctions in class 12 and 45 in class 10, schools associated with Muslim Wakf Board have secured top positions in the board examinations, the results of which were declared recently.
Anika Rasool of Islamia Hanfiya Wakf Higher Secondary School, Anantnag has secured 97.4 percent marks in J&K State Board of School Education (BOSE) higher secondary part–two examination and Mehvish Mushtaq from the same school has bagged 97 percent marks.
Faizan Fayaz of Mantaqui Memorial Wakf Higher Secondary School, Awantipora is also among the toppers with 97.4 percent marks.
The students who bagged top positions are either from the medical or the non-medical stream as the arts and commerce subjects are not taught in Wakf institutions.
When 51 percent of the government higher secondary schools have recorded just 50 percent result in class 12th examination, the schools associated with Wakf have done well for themselves with 85 percent pass percentage in class 12 and 77 percent in class 10.
In higher secondary schools like Sultan-ul-Arifeen 14 students have bagged distinctions in class 12. In Mantaqui Memorial Wakf higher secondary school, Awantipora 19 students have secured distinction. A total of 71 distinctions have been bagged by the students of Wakf Board.
The students of class 10 have also passed with good percentage. In eight schools of the Wakf the pass percentage is 77 in matriculation examination.
Of the 56 students in Sultan-ul-Arifeen school, 51 have passed the exam and 13 have secured distinction. Similarly, in Mantaqui Memorial Wakf higher secondary school, of the 81 students who have appeared in JK BOSE examination, 55 have passed and 10 have bagged distinction.
In Islamia Hanfiya Wakf Higher Secondary School, Islamabad, 14 students have got distinction. Three students of Muslim Gousia Wakf School, Kakapora, where all the 22 students have passed in their examination, three have secured distinction, and five at Baba Shakur-ud –din Memorial Wakf School. A total of 45 students have walked away with distinction.
Vice-Chairman Muslim Wakf Board, GR Sufi said, “The results of the schools associated with Wakf are very good. To me, the results are better than many government schools. There are deficiencies in Wakf, but there are positives as well that need to be highlighted.”
