Tral shuts on 3rd consecutive day to mourn militant killings

A complete shutdown was observed on the third consecutive day on Friday at Tral township in Pulwama district against the killing of three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants.

All shops and business establishments, and government and private offices remained closed while the public transport was off the roads.

   

Three militants, two locals and a foreigner, were killed during a gun battle with government forces at Nazneenpora hamlet in Tral on Tuesday.

A witness said that scores of people from different areas assembled at Pinglish and Midoora to offer prayers for slain militants Danish Khaliq Dar and Adil Akram Lone, and offer condolences to their families.

Contingents of the police and the CRPF were deployed at sensitive locations in the town to thwart any “violence”, an official said.
