Youth wounded during CASO in Pulwama village

The government forces on Monday afternoon shot and wounded a protestor in the Kakapora area of Pulwama when young men sought to block the way of the forces going into the village to look for militants hiding in the area.

The youth has been identified as Sameer Ahmad, a resident of Qasigund, Kakapora. After receiving inputs about the presence pf militants in Larve, Kakapora, army men, CRPF and SOG personnel laid a siege around the area and initiated a search operation, a police official said.

   

He said that soon a group of young men began hurling bricks and stones on the forces and in the retaliatory action one youth suffered injuries.

DrFozia, Medical officer at Primary Health Centre, Kakapora said the youth had suffered a firearm injury in his left foot and was shifted to Bone and Joint Hospital, Srinagar for specialised treatment.

An eyewitness, wishing not to be named, said that forces fired both teargas canisters and bullets to scare away the protesters. The cordon was later called off as no militant was found in the area.
