Rajouri village residents protest against electricity, water crisis

Rajouri, Mar 21: The residents of Palma area in Rajouri held a strong protest demonstration against electricity and drinking water shortage in their area.

Local from this area including the women sat on dharna on Rajouri Kotranka road at Palma and blocked it for movement of vehicles.

   

The protesting people said that their area is having no electricity from last more than two weeks but no one in the concerned department is serious to resolve the issue and even the field staff is paying no concern.

They further said that a transformer was sanctioned for the locality three years ago but the department has failed to install this transformer due to vested interest of some people.

“There is no electricity in a particular ward of the village for last 20 days but the concerned field staff of the department is not showing any concern toward the grievance of people despite of the fact that they have been requested time and again to look into the matter,” the protesting women said.

They also put forth the issue of water scarcity in the area. Due to protest the movement of vehicles on this busy road got suspended.

Later a team of police from police station Rajouri reached site and pacified the protest assuring the people that the matter has been taken up with civil Administration and their grievances will be resolved.

The police officials told the protesting people that there grievance has been discussed with civil Administration and it has been assured that necessary steps will be taken to address the issues.

On this assurance the protest was called of the movement of vehicles on this busy road we got restored after two hours.
