A teenage boy who was found unconscious on Saturday at Nowpora, Model Town, in Sopore area of Baramulla district succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS on Sunday, said police.
Zeeshan Rafi Banday, son of Rafi Ahmad Banday, resident of Naseem Bagh krankshivan colony was spotted by some persons in nearly unconscious state at a road on Nowpora Sopore on Saturday.
The locals immediately informed the police and the boy was rushed to the Sopore hospital for treatment. “We received the boy in a semi unconscious state. We provided him the necessary initial treatment and shifted him to SKIMS Hospital, where he died after struggling for four hours,” said Dr Sami, Block Medical officer Sopore.
Senior superintendent of police, Sopore said that initial reports suggest that the boy was hit in the head, “probably following a scuffle between deceased boy and his classmates”. “We are questioning one of his classmates, a class 8th student. Things will be clear after some days,” said Javed Iqbal, SSP Sopore.
