LOC FIRING|After losing mother, 11 year old Irfan is battling leg injury

Eleven year old Irfan Ahmed recently finished his class 7 examination and was enjoying session break at his home and also planned to visit houses of his relatives but the fate had others plans for him.

Irfan was sitting with his mother outside their house atBalnoi in Mendhar on Monday evening at about 6 PM when cross border firingstarted along Line of Control and a mortar shell landed in front of theirhouse.

   

Irfan’s mother Sajahit Bi, 35, died on the spot due tomultiple splinter injuries while Irfan himself received a deep splinter injuryin left leg.

He is now survived by his elder brother and his fathernamely Mohammad Yaqoob who is a farmer and a labourer.

Lying on a bed at Government Medical College AssociatedHospital Rajouri, where he was referred from Mendhar sub-district hospital,Irfan told Greater Kashmir that he heard a loud explosion and felt a severepain in left leg.

When further asked about the incident, Irfan started crying.

Attendants accompanying the injured Irfan told GreaterKashmir that their lives have become hell due to the constant shelling alongLoC.

Medical superintendent of the hospital Rajouri, Dr. SureshGupta told Greater Kashmir that the injured Irfan is under treatment and out ofdanger.
