3 books of prominent poet Satish Vimal released

Srinagar: Prominent poet Dr Satish Vimal’s poetry anthologies in Hindi, English and Kashmiri languages were released at a book release cum reading session here today.

The session was organised by Meezan publishers in collaboration with two national level publishing platforms. Vimal’s new poetry collection in Hindi- ‘Khoye Hue Prishth’- published by Kavya Publications New Delhi was released on the occasion. English translation of Vimal’s book of poetry- ‘ Folios of Lost Treasure’’- done by writer and translator of English language Mushtaque Barq was also released on the occasion. English translation had been published by Evincepub India. Kashmiri translation of Satish Vimal’s book was also released. Kashmiri translation has been done by writer, thinker and poet Dr Ghulam Nabi Haleem and it has been published by Meezan Publishers Srinagar.

   

Vimal read a few small poems in Hindi. Eminent writers Shahbaz Hakbari and Dr Aafaq Aziz reviewed the translations while as young writer Tauseef Raza presented his evaluation of the poetry and the English translation. Other prominent writers who discussed the merit of the poetry of Satish Vimal included Rahim Rehbar, Iqbal Anjum, Dr Shabnum Ashai, Shabbir Matji, Ashraf Raavi, Mohammad Shafi Rather, Aasif Safil, Dr Shahzada Saleem, Shakeel ur Rehman, Ashraf Zia.

Shahbaz Hakbari termed these poems as the literature of all times. He said that the new idiom of Vimal makes him a unique poet . Dr Aafaq Aziz said that Vimal’s poetry is a blend of Sufi thought and Philosophical wit. He said that Sutra-Kavya is the condensed life expression through poetry and Vimal has revived this poetic tradition of ancient India which was also prevalent with small alterations in ancient Arabia. Satish Vimal praised the translators Mushtaque Barq and Dr Ghulam Nabi Haleem for their splendid work. “Both the translations are very close to original and these translations have the potential to carry the spirit of my poems to larger linguistic domains of English and Kashmiri,” said Dr Satish Vimal.

It is pertinent to mention here that this anthology of poetry from Vimal is his twenty eighth book. An hour long poetry discussion was held on the occasion in which poems from Vimal’s anthology were evaluated and elucidated by eminent writers and poets present.

The event was moderated and anchored by young writer Zubair Qureshi.
