NIA officer probing J&K cases gets 2-year extension

Senior National Investigation Agency officer G P Singh, probing militancy-related cases in Jammu and Kashmir and in Northeastern region, was Monday given two years extension, according to an official order.

Singh, a 1991 batch IPS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, is working as inspector general (Intelligence) in the NIA.

   

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved extension in his services for two years beyond November 4, 2018, the order issued by the Personnel Ministry said.

The NIA is looking into cases of alleged militant funding and “hate speeches” in Jammu and Kashmir allegedly involving certain separatist leaders. Among them is the case allegedly involving AasiyaAndrabi, chief of Dukhtaraan-e-Milat outfit, for “waging war against the country and “delivering hate speeches” in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
