PCCF represents JK at national workshop on climate change in New Delhi

Principal chief conservator of forests (PCCF) Suresh Chugh led delegation from the state participated in the national workshop on “Taking forward the climate Agenda” in which the representatives of all the states implementing the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC) Projects participated.

The workshop was also attended by Union Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Dr Harsh Vardhan among others.

   

The PCCF highlighted the achievements and challenges before the state with regards to combating the effects of climate change. The team led by PCCF which also included state coordinator, climate change cell, department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing Majid Farooq participated in the discussion wherein ideas for better ways to deal climate change were discussed.

Suresh Chugh presented the progress achieved under NAFCC funded “Climate Resilient Sustainable Agriculture in Rainfed (Kandi) Farming Areas of Jammu & Kashmir.”

Despite constraints, the progress achieved under the project was highly appreciated. The Agriculture Production Department was asked to increase the pace of utilization funds so that the desired results are achieved within the sanctioned time-frame of the project. NABARD was also requested to ensure timely fund flow for the project. The need for training/transfer of technology and capacity building was discussed threadbare.
