Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has extended its offer to directorate of school education Kashmir (DSEK) to accommodate in-service untrained graduate teachers for B.Ed courses this year. In this regard regional director MANUU has shot a letter to the DSEK. The letter reads that the varsity has been imparting training program (B.Ed) to the teachers in J&K through both regular and distance mode since 2006 which has been receiving a good response from teaching community. “The huge response was due to the fact that the programs are offered in Urdu which is the official language in J&K state,” the letter reads. Already, the J&K government has made B.Ed program mandatory for in-service teachers for their future service benefits. “MANUU is interested to offer B.Ed to the untrained teachers of your department through distance mode via Urdu medium,” the letter reads. “Besides it (training) will help them in flourishing the official language of the state,” the letter reads. The MANUU regional director has asked the DSEK to communicate the feasibility and the number of in-service untrained teachers in J&K who can be imparted two-year training through distance mode. “The modus operandi for this B.Ed program shall be on the pattern adopted by the education department and IGNOU,” the letter reads. The MHRD has made it mandatory for government teachers to get trained by 2019 March or they will be terminated from their service. Director school education Kashmir (DSEK) G N Itoo said all un-trained graduate teachers were already enrolled with IGNOU and college of education to pursue mandatory B.Ed course. “We have also received this offer from central university and Kashmir University. They too are interested to enroll our teachers for B.Ed course but all our teachers have been already enrolled for the training program,” Itoo said.
