‘Sunshine Washing Centre’, another start-up, comes up in IUST

The Islamic University of Science and Technology’s (IUST)Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) has launched a student entrepreneurialventure “Sunshine Washing Centre”.

The start-up is an initiative taken by a female student ofMBA department, Rafiya Farooq. It was inaugurated by vice chancellor IUST, ProfMushtaq Siddiqi, last week. He called for creation of proper mentoring team bythe EDC which will help in encouraging young entrepreneurs and developingconfidence in the young minds.

   

“These types of start-ups are creating a sense of securityfor future among the youth,” he said, adding the students should focus on areasof human consumption. Chairman EDC, Dr Parvaiz Ahmad Mir said the purpose ofEDC was to change mindset of students towards entrepreneurship and to developamong them willpower for taking risks in order to convert them intoopportunity.

“Our next step with regard to Sunshine Washing Centreis  to register it as a private companyand then apply for seed capital start-up grant from state government and thusmake it as full-fledged organization,” he said. Rafiya said the Centre will actas facility for all female hostel boarders for washing their clothes.

“I am currently employing one female and after four months Iwould be employing more people and will start this facility in all otherhostels of the University,” she said.
