A father-son duo were among three person killed while five others sustained injuries when a newly constructed two-storey building collapsed in Devaliyan village of Kalakote in Rajouri district.
A police official said the building, with shops in groundfloor and residential space on first floor, collapsed and eight person of afamily got trapped under the debris.
He said people from the area rushed to the spot and startedrescue operation. Later team of police from Kalakote police station alsoreached the spot.
After hectic efforts, seven injured were rescued from thedebris and were rushed to Kalakote hospital. All injured where later referredto Sunderbani hospital for treatment, said police official.
Another member of the family who got completely stuck underthe debris was removed out after an hour of efforts, but he was found dead.
Later, two more injured, who were hospitalized, succumbed totheir injuries.
The deceased have been identified as 25 year-old GhafoorHussain son of Mohammad Shabir, his two years old son Adil Ghafoor and 16 yearsold Mohammad Taireez son of Zakir Hussain.
The five person who sustained critical injuries include13-year old Asma Kouser, daughter of Zakir Hussain, 14-year old NazakatHussain, son of Zakir Hussain, 18-yearold Maria Begum, daughter of Zakir Hussain, 12-year old Tariq Hussain, son ofZakir Hussain and 60-year old Zakir Hussain son of Khadim Hussain.
